Parvalux
Geared motors for safety-critical and high-cycle applications.
Southern Africa (South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Zambia)

Parvalux has designed and built fractional horsepower geared motors since 1947. From its base in the UK, the company engineers brushed DC, brushless DC, and AC motors with matching gearboxes for healthcare, industrial, and leisure applications. Parvalux motors drive powered wheelchairs and patient hoists, windscreen wipers on large ships and high-speed trains, and conveyor and materials-handling equipment. Thousands of standard motor and gearbox combinations support rapid prototyping, and the in-house design team builds fully bespoke drives around a specific application. Parvalux joined the maxon group in 2018.
Why Parvalux?
Parvalux has specialised in fractional horsepower geared motors since 1947 and is the UK's largest fractional horsepower motor manufacturer. Its motors run in healthcare, industrial, and transport equipment around the world.
Parvalux builds the motor, gearbox, encoder, brake, and controller as a single matched system. The controller was developed with parent company maxon for both brushed and brushless motors.
Thousands of standard motor and gearbox combinations let you set voltage, speed, and torque without a bespoke build. The modular range spans 12 to 48 V, up to 4500 rpm, and geared output up to 80 Nm.
Parvalux motors are engineered for high-cycle, safety-critical applications where torque, low noise, and efficiency matter. Fully custom designs are available.
Parvalux products available through DNH
DNH supplies the full Parvalux range into South Africa, configurable to your application needs. Gearboxes, encoders, brakes, and controllers are supplied alongside the motors as part of the same geared motor system.
Parvalux's brushless DC programme delivers high power density, long service life, and precise control with zero brush maintenance.
Brushed DC motors across the PM, BRx, RE, and SD1 families. High starting torque and clean control without external electronics.
Parvalux's geared motor system is built to be ordered together. Gearboxes, encoders, brakes, and controllers are supplied alongside the motor, sized and paired by DNH in consultation with Parvalux.
Complete Parvalux builds combining motor, gearbox, encoder, brake, and controller, configured for a customer specification. DNH consults on selection and coordinates the order with Parvalux's configurator and engineering team in Poole.
