One drive does not fit every vehicle
A windscreen wiper on an ocean-going ship and a recovery winch on a 4x4 both run off a geared DC motor, but they ask opposite things of it.
The wiper runs a steady, continuous sweep and has to shrug off salt spray and constant damp. The winch sits idle, then delivers high stall torque in short, brutal pulls. A tarp puller moves a heavy load slowly across a flatbed, every working day. An in-vehicle automotive drive has to be compact, quiet, and invisible to the driver. Torque curve, gear ratio, IP rating, and mounting all change with the platform and its duty cycle, so the drive is sized to the vehicle, not pulled off a shelf.
DNH supplies Parvalux geared motors, maxon in-vehicle drive systems, and Phoenix Mecano linear actuators across Southern Africa, and works with each manufacturer to match the drive to the vehicle.
Common challenges
Wiper drives must clear rain, sea spray, and road grime without fail.
Tarps and winch loads are too heavy to move by hand.
Vehicle drives face dust, vibration, heat, and water ingress.
Torque, envelope, and mounting change from one vehicle to the next.
Products and solutions
Three brands in the DNH portfolio have a documented fit for transport and automotive.
Gearboxes, encoders, and controllers are supplied alongside the motors as part of the same drive system.
AC, brushed DC, and brushless DC geared motors and gearboxes
Fit-and-forget geared motor drives for vehicle wiper systems, tarp pullers, vehicle winches, caravan movers, golf buggies, and marine steering, each customised to the platform's torque, envelope, and duty cycle.

Linear actuators and electric cylinders
Linear actuation for special and commercial vehicles in harsh conditions: trailer hatches on harvester tractors, highway hazard-signal light boards, wheelchair ramps in adapted vehicles, and yacht hatches and antennas, in high-IP configurations.
Special vehicles
Starter motors, generators, and 48V e-machines
Powertrain electrification for passenger and commercial vehicles: starter motors and alternators for reliable engine starts, Boost Recuperation Machines for mild-hybrid fuel savings, and high-voltage e-machines for full electrification.

Proven in the field
Parvalux Viper3 wiper motor
Parvalux | Rail, road haulage & marine
The Parvalux Viper3 compact wiper motor powers wiper systems on trains, trucks, and the largest ocean-going ships, and on NASA's CT-2 crawler that carries rockets to the launch pad at Cape Canaveral. Road haulage, rail, and marine equipment manufacturers specify the Viper3 because wiper drives at sea and on the road have to clear rain, sea spray, and grime in the worst conditions. DNH supplies the range into Southern Africa, sized to each platform's mounting, sweep, and duty cycle.
Parvalux vehicle winch motors
Parvalux | Vehicle recovery & off-road
Parvalux electric vehicle winch motors are a favourite with emergency services and off-road operators worldwide for tough recovery duty. A recovery winch sits idle, then has to deliver torque on command and survive dust and water until the next pull. Parvalux builds these as AC, brushed, and brushless geared motors, each customisable to the winch's line pull and mounting.
Parvalux tarp puller drives
Parvalux | Road haulage
Parvalux geared motors drive automated tarpaulin pullers on truck flatbeds, where covering a load safely is heavy manual work and is mandated by law in many countries. Haulage operators automate it with a reliable, durable drive that runs every working day, and Parvalux supplies these as customisable geared motors for road haulage fleets, distributed into Southern Africa by DNH.
Phoenix Mecano highway signal vehicle
Phoenix Mecano | Special vehicles
Phoenix Mecano's LD1000E linear actuator raises and lowers the heavy traffic-hazard warning light board on a mobile highway signal vehicle trailer, with end-position feedback for safe operation. The LD1000E was selected for the high IP rating that powerful waterjets, harsh weather, and vehicle-wash chemicals demand, holding its end positions through continuous outdoor exposure.
